Century Club Team #73


I completed my Century Ride on June 27, 2010, at the Cascade Show in Tulelake, California, riding 26 year old paint gelding, Lynx, who belongs to my friend Carol Hoglen.  This was Lynx's first dressage test and he came through like the true gentleman that he is. 

Lynx was born in 1984 and sired several foals.  He went on to compete in reining, gymkana, barrel racing, and later became a ranch and therapy horse.  What a guy!

I had horses as a teen, but gave them up to raise five children.  My youngest daughter participated in eventing, and after she got married, I found myself with a truck and trailer, saddle, and all the necessary equipment I needed to ride.  So, at 55 I took up dressage.  I bought and rode a Lippizan mare, Gloria II, and she and I were reserve champions at training level for the USLR in 1998.  Sadly, Gloria could not do the Century Ride with me, which was my dream.  I miss her so; she was a dear friend.

I have loved all my horses and I am so grateful that they made my life such an adventure.
