Betsy Labelle Awarded $500 Trip Harting Grant

The Dressage Foundation announced that Betsy Labelle, Oviedo, Florida, has won the 2010 Trip Harting Grant in the amount of $500.  Betsy is the first recipient of this grant and plans to use the funds to enroll in the USDF 'L' Education Program.

Trip's friends, students, and admirers established this Fund at The Dressage Foundation in his memory.  Trip, a beloved judge, coach and clinician, passed away in August 2008.  The purpose of the Fund is to provide financial assistance for a Pony Club rider to attend the United States Dressage Federation 'L' Education Program or Instructor Certification Program.  Applicants must be current or graduate Pony Club members with a B or A rating.

Betsy Labelle graduated from North Star Pony Club with a B rating.  She is currently a dressage trainer and instructor and is a USDF Silver Medalist.  Betsy has a passion for Pony Club and volunteers extensively for the organization.  She said "Trip would be so proud to be giving to Pony Clubbers.  His whole life involved the Pony Club and we will continue on with what he built."

The Trip Harting Fund will continue to grow over time as new donations flow into The Dressage Foundation.  The Foundation will continue to award grants based on recommendations of the Selection Committee for as long as the Fund balance allows.
