Help For Young Riders

Olympic Dream Program

Administered and funded by The Dressage Foundation, this Program sends four top Young American Dressage Riders to Europe each year, along with two adult chaperones, for a two-week introduction to European Dressage trainers, riders, facilities and events. The program costs approximately $30,000 each year. Twenty-eight Young Riders have experienced this highly-praised program since its beginning in 2000.

USDF FEI Junior/Young Rider Clinic Series

Young Dressage Riders, between the ages of 14 and 21, currently riding at Third Level or above, participate in nine clinics conducted each year (one in each USDF Region). Instructors are highly respected international high-performance athletes. The Dressage Foundation has helped make these clinics possible with a $25,000 annual grant to USDF (from 2004-2007, a $100,000 Donor investment in this Program).

Renee Isler Dressage Support Fund (NEW)

This Fund can help applicants to the "USDF FEI Junior/Young Rider Clinic Series," who are in need of financial assistance in order to attend, if qualified and accepted by USDF. Renee's Fund has authorized nine annual grants of $800 each, one for each Clinic in each of the nine USDF Regions.


USDF/USEF Young Rider Graduate Program

A weekend classroom educational seminar, this Program helps Young Rider graduates learn how to make a successful career in the adult equestrian world. The Dressage Foundation has committed a $15,000 funding grant for this Program in 2008.

The Michael Poulin Dressage Fund

Established at The Dressage Foundation by friends and supporters of Olympian Michael Poulin, this Fund awarded a $7,950 grant in 2005 to Kaitlyn Hamilton (MI) to represent the United States at the FEI Young Rider World Cup Dressage Final in Frankfurt, Germany - and a $6,500 grant to two-time Brentina Cup winner, Elisabeth Austin (VT) to train with Klaus Balkenhol in Germany.

Cheryl Finke Developing Rider Fund for Center Line Dressage (IL)

This fund awards scholarships to help provide educational training for Young Riders. In 2007, the Fund awarded a $1,000 scholarship to David Blake (CA) to help him compete in the 2007 World Championships for Young Dressage Horses.

The Amanda Ward Legacy Fund (PDF)

Established at The Dressage Foundation in 2007, in special remembrance of Amanda, to help Young Riders pursue their Dressage Dreams. The Fund will give an annual $1,000 Award to the Highest scoring Junior/Young Rider at Third Level and above, at the New England Dressage Association Fall Festival. Micaela Mabragana was the 2007 recipient.
