Major Anders Lindgren Scholarship

The Major Anders Lindgren Scholarship is available annually from The Dressage Foundation. The criteria for selection are as follows:

1.  The Recipient is to be a citizen of the United States.   Be prepared to prove citizenship. Talented and successful Dressage instructors, especially those in the USDF certified pool, Training through Fourth Level, are eligible to apply.  The Scholarship is to help an instructor improve his/her teaching and training of Dressage by studying abroad, and to give the recipient the opportunity to improve his or her riding skills.

2.  It is suggested that the Recipient consider study at: National Equestrian Centers in Warendorf, Germany; Deurne in Holland; Saumur in France; Flyinge in Sweden; and Aarhus in Denmark. The recipient is not limited to study at these centers, but the recipient will be able to take part or follow the studies of all parts of equestrian subjects, and will receive a more complete picture of the long way from foal to the Grand Prix horse.

3.  The recipient of the scholarship is required to provide a written report of his or her experience in studying abroad to The Dressage Foundation. Suggestions for the written report will be furnished to the recipient.  We believe a two-month time frame after you have returned from your European training, is sufficient to write and send your report to the Foundation.

4.  The maximum amount of the scholarship is $6,000, and will be awarded to offset expenses to travel and learn abroad. The funds must be used within two years of the date of the award. $4000 of scholarship funds will be paid prior to the recipient’s departure for the overseas trip; $2000 will be paid after the applicant returns to the USA, and has submitted a report to The Dressage Foundation.

5. A complete package for an applicant to present to TDF's Selection Committee is: 6 copies of the application, along with the required number of reference letters, and any other written documentation that you wish to present. We strongly advise that professional references be written on the writer's letterhead. STAPLE ALL PAPERS INTO A SET. You will have six sets for our Selection Committee. Send all your application documentation in one package. We will not accept applications that are not presented in this way. Do not use binder, folders or other distractions. Please use 20# white paper. We do not accept videotapes, or DVD material. We will not accept fax copies, email, or power point presentations. No application material will be accepted after the Friday, September 26, 2008 deadline. If time is of the essence, we suggest you use FedEx, UPS or USPS (postal services) and give a time requirement for delivery. For your records, please request a return receipt. A committee of Dressage professionals reviews all application information, and recommends the recipient to The Dressage Foundation Board of Directors.

All items are to be in The Dressage Foundation office: Wells Fargo Center, Suite 732, 1248 'O' Street, Lincoln, NE 68508. Due date: on or before Friday, September 26, 2008.
