The Dressage Foundation Gives Adult Amateur a Chance to Learn from Professional

Adrienne Dickerson, a Marietta, Georgia resident, recently attended a two-week intensive dressage training seminar with her horse, Cavalier in Madison, Georgia. Dickerson spent quality time concentrating on her relationship with her horse and learning from dressage expert, Roel Theunissen.

“Overall it was a fantastic experience and one of the most productive periods of training I’ve had,” said Dickerson. “Cavalier and I both clearly progressed in our riding and performance at the show, and I could see an obvious improvement every few days. Without a doubt the scholarship and our two weeks of dressage immersion allowed us to improve significantly.”

Thanks to a significant $750 grant provided by the Dressage Foundation, based in Lincoln, Neb., Dickerson was able to set aside quality time for training with her horse, away from the daily pressures of work and family.

The Gifted Fund was established to provide funding support for adult amateur dressage riders who are working to improve their skills. Olympian Carol Lavell seeded this Fund with donations received in special remembrance of her great horse, 'Gifted.' The Foundation offers nine scholarships to adult amateur dressage riders each year.

“We are proud to provide support to adult amateur dressage riders. They are the backbone of our sport,” said John Boomer, President and CEO of The Dressage Foundation.
