The Fort Worth Dressage Club will host a special adult camp for dressage riders this weekend, June 6-8, at the Willow Draw Equestrian Center in Weatherford, TX.
Attendees will spend three days in group and private lessons, and lectures, focusing on the Training Pyramid. The camp will also feature unmounted sessions to prepare riders with a basic understanding of show preparations. Attendees will learn from USDF certified instructor Meg Flemming. Flemming is also an "L" Graduate, a USDF Bronze Medalist and has been teaching dressage for more than 30 years.
“Many of our riders do not have access to instructors, even on a monthly basis. The opportunity to spend three days with fellow members and get intensive instruction from someone like Meg is a wonderful happening for our club,” said Barbara Harty, Fort Worth Dressage Club President.
This training will help riders learn the correct way to ride and progress in their riding and will give them a better understanding of the sport. Thanks to a $2,000 grant provided by The Dressage Foundation through the Violet M. Hopkins Fund, association members will be able to attend the program at a reduced cost.
“The Dressage Foundation is proud to provide financial support to the club. We are committed to helping advance the sport of dressage and this program is an excellent learning opportunity for riders of all levels,” said John Boomer, President and CEO of The Dressage Foundation.
The Violet M. Hopkins Fund was established at The Dressage Foundation in 1996 to help support educational programs of USDF Group Member Organizations for riders at all levels. The grant requires recipients to incorporate lectures on the basics and theory of dressage into their programs.
