Dressage Riders and Auditors to Attend Adult Camp Hosted by Local Association

(June 25, 2008) Lincoln, Neb. – The Northern Virginia chapter (NOVA) of the Virginia Dressage Association will host an adult dressage camp June 27-29 at Hall’s Choice Farm in New Market, Maryland, thanks to a grant provided by The Dressage Foundation.

Dressage auditors and riders of all levels will spend a weekend immersed in dressage, with both mounted and unmounted learning opportunities. The camp will be led by clinicians Debbie Bowman, a USDF-certified instructor who also claimed a gold medal at the North American Championships, and Debbie Rodriquez, a freelance dressage instructor and trainer that has been helping riders improve their skills since 1989. Rodriquez has also earned USDF bronze, silver and gold medals.

“Many adult riders in our chapter are busy people with demanding professional and family obligations which can limit the time they are able to devote to riding,” said Stephanie Floros, the camp manager for NOVA. “The camp combines the element of a ‘retreat’ to help riders concentrate on increasing their dressage knowledge through accomplished riding instruction and evening programs.”

This training will help enhance the riders’ relationships with their horses by improving their overall skills in the sport of dressage. Thanks to a $1800 grant provided by The Dressage Foundation through the Violet M. Hopkins Fund, association members will be able to attend the program at a reduced cost.
