Pennsylvania Dressage Riders and Auditors to Attend Adult Training Camp Hosted by Local Association

(May 26, 2008) Lincoln, Neb. – The French Creek Dressage Association will host a special three-day adult camp for dressage riders and auditors this weekend, May 30 – June 1 at Heatherbridge Farm in Chester Springs, Pennsylvania, thanks to funding provided by The Dressage Foundation.

Attendees will spend three days learning about responsible horsemanship. During group sessions, private lessons and theory-based lectures, riders and auditors will learn how to be responsible for a horse’s responses, horsemanship skills and even financial planning for equines. Gina Krueger, a United States Dressage Federation level two certified instructor will lead the sessions. Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend Pilates training sessions with Laurie Higgins, aimed specifically at equestrian riders.

“We hope to give riders the tools to train more safely on their own,” said Ange Bean, the organizer of this year’s camp. “Many of our home-based riders have limited access to quality instruction and this adult camp is going to be a great opportunity for them to improve their skills.”

This training will help enhance the riders’ relationships with their horses by improving their overall skills in the sport of dressage. Thanks to a $1,500 grant provided by The Dressage Foundation through the Violet M. Hopkins Fund, association members will be able to attend the program at a reduced cost.

“The Dressage Foundation is proud to provide financial support to the association. We are committed to helping advance the sport of dressage and this program is an excellent learning opportunity for riders of all levels,” said John Boomer, President and CEO of The Dressage Foundation.

The Violet M. Hopkins Fund was established at The Dressage Foundation in 1996 to help support educational programs of USDF Group Member Organizations for riders at all levels. The grant requires recipients to incorporate lectures on the basics and theory of dressage into their programs.
