Kim Gentry Receives $6,000 Major Anders Lindgren Scholarship
The Dressage Foundation's distinguished selection committee chose Kim Gentry or Memphis, Tenn. as the recipient of the 2007 Major Anders Lindgen Scholarship. Gentry will travel with her horse, Concerto, to Gestut Forellenhof, Borken, Germany to train at the International Dressage Academy (IDA), LLC.
Gentry has previously received other scholarship funds from The Dressage Foundation that have helped her become a United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Certified Instructor and graduate from the USDF 'L' Program. Gentry is now completing the requirements to become a USDF Instructor Certification faculty member.
"From my training in Germany, I hope to be able to pass along this education to other instructors in the certification program," said Gentry.
Gentry is also a member of United States Dressage Federation GMOs, Delta Dressage and MsEDA. She joins the distinguished ranks of previous Lindgren Scholarship recipients Becky Langwost, Loma Fowler, Jennifer Baumert, Sarah Geikie, Susan Hoffman Peacock, Luis Denizard, Christopher Hickey, Emily Gershberg and Beth Sproule-Hansen.
The Scholarship is named in honor of Major Anders Lindgren, of Lund, Sweden, who was an early proponent of instructor certification and his work laid the foundation for the USDF Program.
Notes from Kim in Germany
February 2008
"It was great to be able to spend the month over there and really focus on my training and education and have the time to process it all. I've been able to learn so much already! It has been interesting coming home and being able to teach the new learnings. I've discovered that I am more confident and there is suddenly way more depth in my knowledge and teaching skills.
Thanks for this wonderful opportunity. There are many people besides me benefiting from it. I have a feeling that it will become a really significant experience in my career."
