Team #522 Bruce MacDonald and Norman

Team #522: Bruce MacDonald and Norman
Ages: 76 & 30
Combined Age: 106

Norman was born in 1991 during the first Gulf War and was named after the commanding General, Norman Schwarzkopf. In 1998, we joined the Harvard Fox Hunt in Bixby, Oklahoma.

Unfortunately, Norman lived up to the General’s nickname “Stormin Norman,” and he was quite a handful for the first five years. Finally, after many trials and tribulations, he settled down and became a great fox hunter and taught six other horses to hunt. Norman usually had a crowd behind him going through creeks, jumps, and other rough terrain. Norman became so easy to ride that one of the hunt members commented that a five-year-old could now ride him, and they have continued to hunt for 24 years.

At age 30, Norman and I, with a combined age of 106, were excited to ride in our first dressage show to qualify for the Century Club. We had a great ride and scored a 71 percent. The judge even commented that she could not believe that Norman is 30.

Bruce and Norman completed Intro, Test A, on October 16, 2021, to join the Century Club.
