Team #515: Mary Goss and Elizabethan Lady
Ages: 80 & 21
Combined Age: 101

Mary and Elizabethan Lady aka “Ladybug” joined forces eight years ago after a short search for a companion for “Cajun,” (Century Club team #144 member). Macaroni, a Shetland Pony, left Cajun alone when Mac suffered from colic and passed at an old age. Lady was a gift from the Stearns Family and is the most versatile Haflinger ever.

Once she recovered from Lyme Disease, she became a steady, calm, and willing saddle horse (13.1 hands). She will also happily drive, go on hunter paces, or go on a trail ride. Dressage isn’t easy for her with the bulky conformation of a draft, but she has been high point in two dressage shows with scores in the 70s.

Pictured here are Donna May Dunbar, who initiated the Randy May Memorial Dressage Show, which provides funding for juniors with a scholarship to provide them with a dressage summer camp experience and instructions with a horse. We supporters call ourselves Donna’s Posse of “Vintage Equestrian.” Famed and adorable Judge Lou Denizard came from Florida to officiate the show this year.

Again, I want the thank The Dressage Foundation for its continuous support of dressage. I plan to continue riding at 80 and for many years to come.

Mary and Ladybug completed Intro Level, Test B, on August 28, 2021, for their Century Club membership
