Director of Donor Relations

Part-Time/Contractor Position (approximately 20 hours/week)
Remote

The Dressage Foundation (TDF), a national 501c3 nonprofit, was founded in 1989 to “cultivate and provide financial support for the advancement of dressage in the United States.” Each year, over $300,000 is awarded to dressage enthusiasts across the country to further their education in the sport. 

TDF is seeking a Director of Donor Relations to assist the Board of Directors and existing staff as the organization grows its endowment and grant programs.

Working with the Executive Director, the Director of Donor Relations will design, develop, and implement a major gift program. This person will help build national awareness of TDF and TDF’s vision for the sport. The successful applicant will tell TDF’s story in a way that engages the equestrian community and encourages increased support for the organization.

TDF is blessed with a dedicated staff—small in number—but passionate about promoting dressage and the organization. In joining TDF’s staff, the Director of Donor Relations may also be expected to assist with communication and marketing efforts, especially as they relate to fundraising efforts.

Responsibilities of the Director of Donor Relations:

  • Grow relationships with existing major donors, as well as identify and cultivate relationships with potential major donors
  • Help donors accomplish their philanthropic goals through a relationship with TDF
  • Work with the Executive Director to align efforts and set goals
  • Track and report fundraising progress using specific metrics
  • Design and operate a donor stewardship program
  • Assist in development of marketing and communication pieces targeted at major gift donors

Requirements:

  • Ability to accurately and effectively tell the TDF story using in-person, written, and electronic channels
  • Exceptional interpersonal, writing, editing, and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a small multiskilled team, and the ability to engage and work with a variety of external audiences and stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills and flexibility, ability to multitask
  • Detail-oriented, accurate, and organized
  • Strong computer skills
  • Regular nationwide travel and time spent in Florida during the winter show season

Preferences:

  • Nonprofit fundraising experience, preferably on the major gift level
  • Knowledge of equestrian sports, especially dressage
  • Strong electronic media and basic graphic design experience
  • Experience with donor management software programs

Salary commensurate with experience.
