I first met Lucy almost a decade ago when my trainer, Kiersten Main, and her husband, Jed purchased the barn from Lucy’s owners. She remained on the property and became part of our equine family. I began my training in dressage at the age of 63 and continued to move through the levels and watched Lucy school many children.
Kiersten and I spoke of the Century Club ride and earlier this year I investigated what was involved. I spoke to Lucy’s owner and determined that she turned 29 years young this January and I turned 72 this February. Our combined ages met the requirements at 101!
Lucy and I began training together for our big ride. The day of the competition I was blessed to have much of my family and my barn family cheering me on. It was a terrific day and one I will never forget! I am continuing my training at Third Level and will compete for my USDF bronze medal on my Arab/Friesian gelding later this year.
