The Dressage Foundation’s Century Club Frequently Asked Questions

The Century Club

Century Club FAQ

  1. What do my ages need to add up to?

    • Your age + your horse’s age needs to add up to 100 or more. TDF calculates the horse’s age as turning another year older on January 1, regardless of their actual birthdate.

  2.  What do I need to do to become a member of the Century Club?

    • First, you need to complete a membership application, either online or by mailing a physical copy to our office. (1314 ‘O’ St, Ste 305, Lincoln, NE 68508)

    • Second, complete your ride judged by a dressage judge or dressage professional.

    • Third, send us the required paperwork and a photo from your ride, and you’ll be assigned your Team number.

  3. If I want to do a Century Club ride, when should I fill out an application?

    • Please fill out an application form as soon as you have your Century Club date. Make sure TDF has at least two weeks between your application and your ride. This will help us ensure that your ribbon is delivered to you before your ride.

    • If you are less than two weeks out, please give us a call at 402-434-8585 to see what we can do.

  4. What happens after I submit my application?

    • TDF staff will enter your application and send you your Century Club ribbon, engraved silver picture frame, and a reminder of what is needed after your ride is complete. When your package is mailed depends on how much time there is before your ride. Your package should arrive at least one week before your ride.

  5. Do I need to be a member of an organization (USEF, USDF, etc.)?

    • For TDF’s purposes, you do not need to be a member of any organization; however, if you are doing your Century Club ride at a show, we ask you to please follow their rules. Check with the show manager to see if you need a membership to compete.

  6. Is there a fee for the Century Club?

    • Thanks to generous donors, there is currently no fee for first-time Century Club rides. For additional rides, we suggest a minimum $100 donation to help cover the cost of the ribbons, engraved frames, and Century Club News magazines. However, donations are always welcome from any rider and can be made at https://www.dressagefoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate.html!

  7. Where can I do my Century Club ride?

    • You have many options! You can do your ride at a rated show, a schooling show, at your home facility, or through a virtual show. Just remember, if you do your ride at home, you still need to complete a recognized dressage test and be judged by a dressage judge or dressage professional.

    • If you are riding at a show, make sure to let the show manager know. We will send you and the show manager announcer's remarks that can be used for your ride.

  8. Who can be a judge for a Century Club ride?

    • Any level of USEF/USDF judges count, including “L” Program graduates. If there is no dressage judge in your area, you may use a trainer or other dressage professional who can score your test.

  9. What level test do I need to do for the Century Club ride?

    • We accept any level! From Intro Level to Grand Prix and everything in between. We also accept any level of Western dressage test, Pas de Deux, freestyles, eventing dressage tests, and working equitation dressage tests.

  10. I’m worried about my score! Do scores matter for a Century Club ride?

    • Don’t worry! Your score makes no difference to us! Just do the best you can and have fun! We ask for your test results to make sure you completed a test.

  11. What do I do after my Century Club ride is completed?

    • After your ride is complete, please send us a photo(s) from your ride, a 250-word bio, and a copy of your scored dressage test.

  12. What kind of photo do you need?

    • We’d love to have a picture of you and your horse with the Century Club ribbon and/or pictures of your ride. We also love to see photos of how you celebrate your ride with friends and family. Since these photos will be printed, please make sure they are as high quality as possible. Please consider lighting and the background.

  13. After my ride, how do I send you my 250-word biography, photo, and copy of the test?

    • Email is best! You may send your bio and test by mail, but your photos need to be sent digitally. If you need help, do not hesitate to reach out!

  14.  What do you do with my photo and bio?

    • Your Team #, photo, and bio will be posted on TDF’s website.

    • We also publish an annual printed magazine with that year’s Century Club members. You will receive a complimentary magazine as a member and have the chance to order additional ones. The magazine is usually published and delivered in February or March.

  15. Can I do more than one Century Club ride?

    • Yes! You are welcome to complete additional rides, but they MUST be on different horses. We also suggest donating $100 for each additional ride to help cover the cost.

  16. Anything else I should know?

    • While we understand that helmets are not required in all disciplines, we do ask that you wear one for your Century Club ride. If you do not wear a helmet, your photo should be unmounted.
