I bought my Thoroughbred mare, Tira, when she was nine. I brought her to Sandhill Farm, a boarding facility that I own and manage in Dexter, Michigan. The woman I bought her from was thrilled when I told her about our Century Club ride. She was so happy to know Tira has been with me for 20 years!

With the help of several people, including Jennifer Merrick-Brooks, Barb Duncan, Alice Preketes, and Sherry Nelson, I trained her to be an event horse. We competed through Training Level throughout the Midwest. We were chosen to be on the Eventing Association of Michigan team that competed at the team challenge event at the Kentucky Horse Park in 2005 and 2006. When she began having issues with arthritis, I stopped jumping and focused on dressage.

I then enjoyed showing Tira through Second Level dressage at shows in Michigan at Woodbine Farms and Waterloo Hunt Club. After I bought a younger warmblood gelding to work with, I leased Tira to a young rider who learned a lot from the experienced Tira. She is now a reliable lower-level dressage horse.

I learned about the Century Club from my friend Judy Ward who rode one a few years ago. She provided me with information, and I am grateful to her and others for the support I have received.  Also, thanks to Sari Clapperton, owner of Woodbine Farms, for the opportunity to ride my Century Club ride at one of her shows. We scored 69.55% riding First Level Test 2, good enough for first place and champion for First Level and above at the show.
