My horse, Bacarat, is a Lusitano. He was born in Brazil and shipped to my barn when he was four years old. I bought him several months after he arrived, and we have worked together ever since.
We both love learning new skills. Unfortunately, Bacarat’s original dressage training was not entirely sufficient. However, we have been able to work together to retain many of his positive aspects. He loves his people as well as working on his skills. His relationship with me as well as the trainer and other caregivers, is superior.
About two years ago, Bacarat and I had the wonderful opportunity to move to Indian Meadow Farm in West Newbury, Massachusetts. This gave me the opportunity to work with well-known trainer, Julian Dykiel. She gave us – both rider and horse – a wonderful opportunity to learn. She worked with us to get us ready to ride the Fourth Level Test 1 for our Century Club ride.
I have been riding since I was six years old. I have been working on dressage with several different horses for about 20 years. Working with Bacarat is truly the “frosting on the cake.” We felt very prepared for our Century Club ride in June.
