The youngest of seven children always loved horses and had posters all over her bedroom of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Annie Oakley, and others. Her parents and eldest brother managed to purchase her first horse when she was 14. He was a 14.2 roan cowpony that frequently bucked her off as well as kicked out her front teeth! That was a good excuse to sell him, and her father bought her a purebred Arabian who was a 100-mile endurance horse!
She took hunt seat lessons when she could and loved jumping, so she thought she should try eventing. Who would think that dressage would end up being her passion! She rode in clinics whenever she got the chance. Bruce Davidson was instrumental when it came to jumping water and ditches, as she frequently ended up being thrown, but thankfully never hurt!
Many horses and lots of training later, the most influential being Anne Gribbons, as well as Heather Mason, who helped get her through the FEI Levels with two different horses. Barbara has been an active USEF Dressage judge for 44 years, and she is still training horses at her farm in Howell, NJ, which she has called home for the past 50 years.
