Barb got her first horse in 1969 when she moved to California from Ohio. Her horse was obtained through a wild horse sale. Later, Barb bought an Arabian mare and its half-brother. She began dressage with Tracey Lert in 1982 on her Arabians with the goal of wanting to do flying changes. She later moved onto Dutch Warmbloods who were more able in this endeavor, and she has ridden to Prix St. Georges on a big Dutch gelding named Kevin.
Tracey says Barb is her most consistent and diligent student. Barb’s current dressage partner is Tycoon, a 20-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred. She has had Tycoon for five years and has become a specialist at Second Level Test 3 because of those darn flying changes.
