Becky bought Zida as a four-year-old on the advice of Bob MacDonald.
Zida is a Dutch Shire cross, sired by Zydeco, a local stallion owned by Kathy Jordan.
Together, Becky and Zida spent five or six years showing in the jumpers, following Stephanie Goodman to competitions throughout the West, including Wickenburg, Thermal, Portland, Bend, Cle Elum, Salt Lake City and Thunderbird in Langley, Canada. One of their highlights came at Thunderbird, where they won a meter speed class against a field of more than 60 horses!
When Stephanie returned to eventing, Becky and Zida decided to give a new sport a try. Off they went to Galway, Aspen, Wickenburg, Rebecca Farm, Woodside, and Caber Farm. They had fun navigating the new dressage challenges!
Their eventing journey culminated at the 2021 USEA American Eventing Championships at the Kentucky Horse Park, where they competed in the Novice Senior Master division of 55 horses and finished on their dressage score.
Now 22, Zida is still sound, occasionally sassy and, most importantly, still Becky’s horse of a lifetime.
Becky would also like to thank the many trainers and clinicians who have helped them along the way: Gene Lewis, Bob MacDonald, MaryRae Fuller, Karen O’Connor, Nadine Schwartsman, Kim Anderson and Hillary Haskins, and especially the entire team at Wasatch Sport Horses.
