I have always loved horses! In 1995 when I was in my 40s, I started taking riding lessons when my son left for college. My first riding instructor was Jim Hull at Hobby Horse Farms in Fairview, Pennsylvania. Jim was VERY patient with this awkward, fearful rider and brought my training along slowly but surely.
In 1996, I bought my heart horse, Codys Grande Rio. He was 18; he had a whoa and a go and little did I know the wonderful adventures we would have. I took lessons with Lew Trumble and Nancy Kohler at Willow’s Equestrian Center in Fairview and Nancy Lewis in Ohio.
In 2006, we qualified for the Regional Dressage Championships in Training Level Test 3 when Cody was 26. Although we did not win a ribbon, we placed 15th out of 35 talented horses.
Cody died in 2010 at age 31, and I bought Sky (French Vanilla Sky), then a green five-year-old. Together with the help and training of Michelle Sult of MKS Eventing and Sport Horses, in Erie, Pennsylvania, we have continued our adventures, and there have been many, and we have met many wonderful and dear friends along the way. Dreams do come true, and I am truly blessed.
