I’ve loved animals all my life. I have a photo of me at about two on a pony at the Griffith Park Pony Ride in Los Angeles. But it wasn’t until about 1980 that the LA Equestrian Center opened and my riding life began.
My profession as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist required working full and demanding days in hospital laboratories which made horses an evening and weekend activity.
After my family moved with our horses to a nine-acre farm in Virginia, I took dressage lessons with Jane McLoud riding her horses. I missed having my own horses to love and ride so Jane suggested I investigate Norwegian Fjords. Fjords are a small draft horse with versatility, stamina, and a loving nature. After visiting Village Farm Fjords several times, I purchased a two-year-old filly, Yrsa. We formed an immediate and permanent attachment. Yrsa is fun, loving, stubborn, curious, talented, and a joy to ride.
Now at 24, Yrsa has been a dressage horse with trainers Jane McLoud, Tori Gable, and Deborah Polec (Provenance Dressage). Debbie brought Yrsa and me to our Century Club ride!
I am with Yrsa every day unless I’m off on travels around the world or roaming the USA in an RV van. Yrsa has a great Provenance barn family and always has excellent care while I’m away.
I hope to keep riding and traveling for years to come, always learning and experiencing new amazing things.
