Deborah Moynihan and Fearghus (NC)
Team #1065: Deborah Moynihan and Fearghus
From: Waxhaw, North Carolina
Ages 75 & 26
Combined Age: 101
Test: Training Level Test 2
I had been planning this ride for a few years hoping Fearghus and I would stay healthy and sound. On August 8, 2026, at the Made in The Shade Dressage Show in Camden, South Carolina, we did our Training Level Test 2 ride. All my family was present and very supportive of this accomplishment. It was very exciting!
I got Fearghus as an 18-month-old. He was supposed to be my next eventing partner. Not wanting to jump, we played in the sandbox. I showed him to Second Level, he sustained a suspensory injury and after recovery, became my school horse. He is now at a friend’s barn still teaching riders. They call him “The Professor.” He is not a horse that wants to be retired! I have to say he really “puffed up” when we started around the arena and gave me a really solid ride.
I started riding at 10 years old after I flunked piano lessons (HAHA). It has been a lifelong learning journey. I am a Level IV Centered Riding Instructor/Clinician (taught by Sally Swift), USDF Certified Instructor/Trainer, USDF “L” Graduate with Distinction and WDAA/USEF ‘r’ Western Dressage Judge. I am also an RN. I enjoy teaching, riding and judging. I sincerely hope to continue for many more years. My Centered Riding credentials have sent me around the states and Europe to teach clinics and instructor courses. I enjoy judging shows, helping riders and being the advocate for the horse.
