Since I grew up in Detroit, Michigan, and my dad was a car designer, I did not have the opportunity to fulfill my girlhood dream of owning a horse. It wasn’t until I was 60 years old that I was able to acquire my first horse. Since that time, I’ve engaged in excellent training with Holly Wilmoth (Holly Wilmoth Dressage), who started me off as my first coach, and Hannah Schofield (Milestone Sport Horses), who continues as my trusted trainer. For my Century Club ride, I am honored to partner with my horse Opus. Opus is a Thoroughbred cross whose steady temperament and generous spirit make every ride a joy. Our Century Club ride reflects our commitment to each other and the sport.
I purchased Opus in 2017, and we have been together for nine years. Opus is a fabulous schoolmaster, and he teaches me more than just correct riding. He instills in me love, patience, consistency, and loyalty. As a business owner with over 40 years of executive experience, Opus provides me relief from the pressures of my company and business and “has been my safe place in a noisy world.”
To all who have watched my journey, thank you for your kind support and encouragement. We are honored to be members of the Century Club. I sincerely hope there are many more amazing experiences in our future; however, completing the Century Club ride is a once-in-a-lifetime dream come true.
