I was born in Mississippi in 1949. My sister and I grew up as lovers of Trigger, Buttermilk, Fury, Flicka, Champion, and Scout. Remember them?
A very special thank you to my husband, Sanford, for being a very supportive horse dad, and my sister, Sally Eddy, for introducing me to dressage.
Continuing my career as a band director, I moved to South Florida in the 1990s, and being lucky enough to live near Wellington, I soon began entering lover level dressage competitions. In 2005, I acquired an American Trakehner mare, Forbidden, aka “Trix.” Under the guidance of trainer Linda Todenhagen, I continued showing for a few years before “retiring” from the ring. When I learned about the Century Club, I decided Trix and I would ride in one last show. Success!
It is an honor that, in addition to my ride on Trix, she was ridden the next day by Linda, also completing her Century Club ride! Two rides for Trix on the same weekend!
Trix has also been a training horse for several students, and she has many loving “aunts” in South Florida.
Unfortunately, Trix lost her left eye last year, but she has adapted to mono-vision very nicely. She does not let this handicap slow her down in any way.
Having reached our goal of the Century Club, Trix and I now plan to ride for the enjoyment of playing and working together on our dressage skills, which allows us both to stay healthy, active, and happy as we “ride into the sunset.”
