I think my love of horses began the moment I first saw and touched one, and horses have been part of my life ever since. On April 19, 2026, I was honored to complete my Century Club ride aboard Ninety Nine Mack, a 27-year-old off-the-track Thoroughbred lovingly owned by my granddaughter, Jamison. Together, at age 73 and 27, we completed our Century Club ride with Introductory Level Test B.
This special ride took place at the Connecticut Equestrian Center, owned by Athene von Hirschberg. I am so grateful for the opportunity to ride such a kind and magnificent horse. From the moment I got on Mack, I knew he would take wonderful care of me, and he certainly did.
Over the years, I have enjoyed riding, though trail riding has become my greatest joy. About ten years ago, I also spent some time doing a bit of dressage with my first horse, Taylor. She taught me so much.
The very next day, April 20th, I underwent a total knee replacement. So, completing this ride was pretty special. It is a memory that makes me smile every day – until we ride again.
