I grew up afraid of horses, having seen one too many stampedes on 1950s television as a kid. I started learning to ride at 40 so that I could help my daughter with her horse without being terrified. I fell in love with horses and riding.
Zeppelin has been my best Valentine’s present since 2008. He tries to do everything that is asked of him. Through all these years, we have faced many challenges together, but we always come out riding.
After a fall and because of other life demands, I didn’t take lessons or show for several years. Then, after moving to a new barn, we started working with Jessica Kuhnash, who helped us find confidence when I was in my 70s and Zepp was well past 20. Within the past couple of years, with Jessie’s help, we achieved our goals of riding First Level and, of course, doing our Century Club ride.
