In 1995, at 40 years old, I decided to learn how to ride a horse by taking riding lessons. I did not realize what a passion riding would become at the time. Also, in 1995, a horse was born in Netherlands, his name was New Gold (Newt). I found Newt when he was just turning four years old. He has been with me for 27 years, almost my whole riding career of 30 years thus far.
We started trail riding then learned to jump. Newt was a fabulous hunter partner. We competed successfully for eight years. Then we switched over to dressage, my true riding passion.
Newt was a champion hunter and embraced the switch to dressage. We competed for many years and earned our USDF bronze medal. He has retired from competitions for several years but enjoys trail riding and hacking until this one last dressage test for our Century Club ride.
I was so happy about doing this Century Club ride with my long-time, beloved partner, Newt. One could not ask for a better partner! I'm thankful for my friends and family who encouraged me to do this ride and thankful to my best equine partner Newt.
