This ride is for Katherine Jacoby and this sweet horse she bred, for herself! He was just too small for her and perfect for me! She sold him to me when he was 6 months old, and he was 28 in March 2025! Kathy and I were lifelong friends. She was a mentor to me, my two daughters, and was going to be there for my two granddaughters! She was also a lifelong supporter and member of Region 9 and Area V in the equestrian world.  She passed away in a tragic accident in July 2024.

She was there as Adamant, aka Adam, and I began to ride. I had a terrible horse accident in August 2003 and sustained a skull fracture and brain bleed.  He was the first horse I got back on (not the one I fell off!) months later. I just cried like a baby to be back on him, as I shouldn’t have survived the accident. Then 9 years ago, I had another accident when I was feeding; resulting in a concussion and broken jaw. I came back from that as well.  God just wasn’t done with me yet! Adam has taught many beginners to ride, especially their first canter, he was ridden by my grandchildren! I was hoping to do this ride in October 2024, but he became lame, and it was so sad.  Then in the spring, he was sound again, so I entered this ride for April 12, 2025.  I had 3 weeks to prepare and all we did was walk and trot until the show date.

So, here I am riding my Trakehner, Adam, and doing a Century Club ride! Kathy was hoping to be here, but I know she will be watching from Heaven with a huge smile on her face! The ride may not be FEI, but we will walk and trot to music she choreographed for my daughter’s musical ride at USPC Championships in 1996. We will celebrate a great horse, a great friendship and all of us who have always loved and appreciated our horses!

Thank you, Central Texas Dressage Society, for hosting and celebrating this ride with me and my family and thank you to TDF for the Century Club!
