Test: Training Level Test 1

Mon Cheval Training Center eagerly supported the Century Club ride of “Margie” Scott on her lovely Friesian, Nadia.

We gathered in the arena as esteemed judge Jodi Ely watched and evaluated. Many of us were watching the extra lessons and time spent preparing for this big moment.

Margie dedicated her Century Club ride to our recently departed friend, Joyce Wood. Joyce was determined to do a Century Club ride with her horse, Sugar. Sadly, Joyce did not make it that far, and we mourned the loss of one of our guiding light riders. There were a few tears when she dedicated her ride to Joyce.

Margie said, “I was more than nervous, practically terrified. My riding was getting worse, and Nadia didn’t want to canter. My balance was tenuous, and it was hard to make her canter. I scheduled extra lessons with our trainer, Mindy Price. Everyone was very encouraging, saying, “You’ll be fine.”

“The day arrived. I borrowed a saddle pad and shirt. I cleaned my tack and half chaps, so I guess I was ready. The judge wore a black robe with a name tag that said, “The Judge,” which helped to lighten my nerves. I don’t remember much about the test, but Nadia DID CANTER. Then the celebration began. Thank you, friends.”

NOTE: Margie was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease, and yet, with worsening balance, rides her horse and works in the barn, to our amazement and pride. After she completed her ride, we presented her ribbon, flowers, and all our love and admiration. Champagne toasts to the rider and to the mare who did it!
