Joining the Century Club has been an aspiration of mine since a friend did hers several years ago. I wish to thank The Dressage Foundation and their sponsors for providing us this opportunity. I also wish to thank my barn family for their encouragement and help in making this ride possible.
Journey and I are both retired U.S. Army veterans. I served for 30 years as a Logistics Officer and Journey served 19 years as a Military Working Equine (MWE) at B Troop, 4th Regiment (Memorial), Fort Huachuca, AZ. B Troop is a U.S. Army horse mounted cavalry unit upholding the traditions and history of Fort Huachuca and military horsemanship.
I met Journey when I joined the B TRP Ladies Auxiliary and represented the families that followed their Soldier to duty assignments in the West. I rode sidesaddle in historically accurate riding habits at B TRP public appearances.
I adopted Journey upon his retirement in 2020, and we have spent most of our time together enjoying trail rides through the Arizona countryside and giving rides to our favorite little girl, Luna. Being a U.S. Army Cavalry horse means he has been to many public events, and he was always calm, safe and reliable regardless of what is going on around him. His steadiness has continued, and he has safely taken new riders and children for rides.
