Marla Gidlow started her equestrian career in New York City, paying $18.00 an hour to Paul Novagrad at the Claremont Stables, feeling it was more economical than an hour of tennis for $50.00 an hour! What a laugh that is now.
Falling totally in love with the sport, Marla bought her first car, so she could buy a house outside of the city, so she could acquire her own horse. She was hooked!
Following 20 years of hunting with The Old Chatham Hunt Club in Columbia County, she transitioned in her 50s, to baby eventing. It was through the eventing that she fell in love with dressage.
With the acquisition of Venturo, a five-year-old gelding from Olympic Ferro, she transitioned to full dressage training.
While Vennie’s career has now waned, Marla and her new partner, 13-year-old Amazing Grace, is now competing at Fourth Level.
