Chasqui and I have been together since he was seven. He is an Off-Track Thoroughbred and was my eventing buddy. He has enjoyed retirement the last several years on our small farm with his two friends, “The Three Amigos”.
I bought Chasqui after recovering from breast cancer and decided to get back into riding. He was a big help during that time. Together, we competed through Novice Level eventing and qualified and competed in the American Eventing Championships.
I have long since hung up my jumping saddle to focus on dressage. And the years have rolled by. Toward the end of 2024 I began to realize that in 2025 Chasqui and I could join the Century Club! So, we started a slow program of getting him ready through the winter.
I decided that our Oklahoma Dressage Society recognized show in June would be the perfect place for that ride. The facility, Southern Hills Riding Academy, is owned by Doug and Kim Dyer. I bought Chasqui from Kim twenty-one years ago. So many memories. So many good times.
Thank you TDF for offering the Century Club program. It is a wonderful moment to look back and reflect on all that our horses mean to us.
And thank you ODS for being a supportive community, a place that creates memories and gives us all a place to support each other and look ahead to new goals. I felt so loved and Chasqui did too. It was a great party! Thank you all!!!
