My interest in horses began about fifty years ago when I became a Pony Club mom for my daughter. Such fun; I got my first horse a few months later!
Life passed and I quit riding until about ten years ago when I started lessons on a schooling horse. Seven years ago, my dear husband wanted me to get my own horse. My comment was, “If God wants me to have a horse, he will give me one!” He did! A week later I was given Trimonial, aka Mr. T, a free to a good home horse from a fox hunting club.
We got together with each of us having several fears, anxiety, and health issues. We were about to attempt to start a new career together.
Allergies and breathing problems caused him to panic and become unruly when being ridden. I took a couple trips to the hospital and learned about safety vests. With the help of my friends, Pat and Cowboy Bill, we began trying to resolve one problem at a time. T has become a community project. He has a masseuse, a chiropractor, and a mobile vet. The folks at Little Star Farms have been a wealth of information from their years of experience.
The work is all coming together and what a thrill it is! I was afraid our Century Club ride would feel like the end, but no! The great thing about dressage is that there is always more!
T has become my special friend, and this journey continues to be awesome!
