Five years ago, while riding at Oak Crest Farm, preparing for my first Century Club ride on Albert, I met Cassi and her owner, Joelle. Cassi was a “show” hunter who had foaled three babies. I may have even ridden Cassi, but I never dreamt I’d do another Century Club – especially on Cassi!
Fast forward to today. I’m still training with Lisa Swan, who has added another stable to her resume – Westbrook Stables in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Lisa was starting a program for children and needed school horses. Joelle loaned Cassi to the program.
During my time volunteering at Westbrook, I mentioned it would be fun to work with Cassi, an Appaloosa/Warmblood, to see how she was at dressage. One thing led to another, and we decided to enter her in her first dressage PVDA training show at Promised Landing. Her hunter show temperament came through with flying; no, flying lead, colors! She's a natural and will be a wonderful horse for the students who want to pursue dressage. I was honored to be given a second chance to enter the Century Club. Thank you!
