A Connemara named Sligo was my first dressage partner. For twelve years, we did very well in the show ring. I retired Sligo in 2004 and looked for a new partner. After trying many different breeds in my area, I flew to Spokane, Washington. There I met a four-year-old grey Connemara gelding. Instantly, for both of us, it was love at first sight.
I purchased him, and on the plane ride home, I was going over various names (his registry name is Orion's Epos) in my head. Ned Devine popped up, and it just seemed to fit. Much later, I found out Ned's Sire's/Sire (Custusha's Cashel Rock) is a Breyer horse model named Rocky. Even as a youngster and to this day, Ned has always been a gentleman and taken care of me. Ned captures the hearts of everyone he meets. I hear, "Oh! You’re Ned’s mom," countless times.
It was an honor to share this Century Club ride with my loyal friend of 21 years. I will never forget that extra special bond we had that day. Ned was so proud of himself (he has a bit of an ego), and he loved all the attention. I want to thank my trainer, Angie Taylor, my husband, Keith, of 45 years, and my many dear friends for their love and endless support.
Thank you, Neddy--you are one incredibly special and talented guy!
