Combined Ages: 101
Test: Introductory Level Test B

Well, this is my 11th Century Club ride. The first being in 2013 when I had no idea I would do multiples in the future years. However, as other horses in the barn got older and our combined ages qualified for the distinction, I said “Why not?” With this ride, I believe we have tied the record for number of Century Club rides. Next year, “God willing and the creek don’t rise,” I hope to do one more to qualify as the record holder of most CC rides!

My horse, Leo Bar Frost (Frosty), is a 21-year-old registered Quarter Horse that has been in my stable since he was three-years old. Originally, he was bought by a friend whose health made him give up riding. I bought him so he could stay with me. I thought I should, as we both have the same birthday of May 14! He came to the rescue to acquire my First Level scores to receive my USDF bronze medal. Seems I had gotten those scores before the USDF was keeping computer show records and I hadn’t saved the tests from my heart horse Slick from those many years ago!

So….Frosty got dusted off to be a show pony and get the final qualifying scores for me. I’ve also had fun showing him Western Dressage and seeing how that is a growing division. In the pasture he is the valued friend of a 39-year-old Quarter Horse that relies on him as a companion with better vision. I’ve been very fortunate to have had horses as my day job (boarding, training, lessons) for many decades. My career with horses enabled me to stay home to raise two great kids and pursue my artistic passion. Finally, horses enabled me to meet and have wonderful friends to share the journey with. It has been a wonderful ride! Thank you again TDF for making the Century Club a goal that senior horses and their rides can pursue.
