I grew up in Benbrook, Texas. Just west of our small town was a ranch that served as a filming location for a low-budget western. My first clear memory of horses is from when I was three, and my dad lifted me onto the back of a movie horse named Star. I was instantly smitten. From that moment on, horses became significant to my life. I rode neighbors’ horses, and when I was lucky, horses of my own. Life of course brought breaks for school and work. I attended the University of North Texas, Texas Woman’s University, and Texas Christian University earning degrees from each. I taught school for 20 years in the Fort Worth area until we relocated for my husband’s job.

Over the years, I have dabbled in three-day eventing, parades and musical drill. I have ridden with precision teams such as The Cowtown Posse and The Texas Ranger Belles. I now focus on competitive trail riding, working equitation, with a dash of Western dressage.

My black and white registered Paint Hesatuffimpression aka Tuffy was supposed to be the “husband horse,” but it became obvious that he would be a great horse for our junior rider child. He was terrific! But he wasn’t retired. Nope! Tuffy was meant to be my partner in crime.  We’ve been together for 21 years and we aren’t done yet. He is still opinionated, but he’s always willing to try. It’s a wonderful life! Family, a good horse and good health.
