TDF Announces Amelia’s ‘Dressage for All’ Youth Fund

The Dressage Foundation (TDF) is pleased to announce the creation of its new “Amelia’s ‘Dressage for All’ Youth Fund,” established by FEI trainer and competitor Amelia Newcomb and friends. The goal of this Fund is to recognize and support young dressage riders who love horses, have a passion for the sport, and work hard for opportunities.

Beginning in 2026, Amelia’s ‘Dressage for All’ Youth Fund will provide five annual $1,000 grants to youth and young adult riders (age 25 and under) who are riding and training any breed of horse at any level, to aid in their development of dressage. Applications will be due April 1, 2026.

Amelia shared, "The future of dressage in the United States rests in the hands of our young riders. They are the heart of the sport, bringing passion, dedication, and fresh energy into every arena. Yet the journey of learning and growth in dressage requires consistent access to quality instruction, along with opportunities for inspiration beyond the regular lesson program. This grant is designed to provide that support—helping riders age 25 and under continue their training with their own trainers, while also opening doors to clinics and horsemanship experiences that can ignite new motivation, broaden their knowledge, and strengthen their connection to the sport. By investing in our youth, we are not only nurturing individual riders and hoping that they find a way to keep horses continuously in their lives, but also ensuring a bright and vibrant future for dressage in the U.S."

Amelia Newcomb (CA), who received TDF’s Carol Lavell Advanced Dressage Prize in 2021, is a USDF bronze, silver, and gold medalist. She has trained and competed close to 50 horses in almost 500 competitions and has trained several horses that she started as youngsters all the way up to the Grand Prix. Amelia hopes one day to compete internationally and to represent the United States at the Olympics.

Jenny Johnson, TDF’s Executive Director, said, “We are honored to partner with Amelia on this wonderful initiative, and we are grateful for her leadership and generosity. Her vision for expanding access and supporting dedicated young riders will help move U.S. dressage forward and strengthen our sport from bottom to top.”
