TDF's Pure Spanish Horse/P.R.E. Grant Fund

The purpose of this Fund is to provide financial support to obtain further dressage training for riders who train and compete a Pure Spanish Horse/P.R.E. in the sport of dressage.

The Pure Spanish Horse/P.R.E. Grant Fund was established in 2023 by donors who wish to celebrate and promote the Pure Spanish Horse/Pura Raza Española (P.R.E.) as upper-level dressage horses because of the breed’s natural abilities, talent, and disposition.  An annual grant will be given to either a professional, adult amateur, or a Young Rider (over the age of 16) competing their PRE at Prix St. George (or Young Rider equivalent) or higher. The grant is to be used for educational purposes such as training, lessons, clinics, etc. The recipient will be chosen by an independent selection committee made up of experts in dressage and the P.R.E. breed.  

Requirements: 

• Applicant must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.  
• The horse must have Spanish papers from ANNCE (Asociación Nacional de Criadores de Caballos de Pura Raza Española).
• Applicant must apply with a horse currently training and competing at Prix St. Georges (or Young Rider equivalent) or higher and have shown proficiency (65% or higher) in Prix St Georges or higher at National or CDI competitions.
• Applicants are encouraged to be members of the United States P.R.E Association.
• Applicant must have the ability to be an ambassador for the P.R.E. breed.

Additional Grant Information:  

• Training or events funded by this grant can start no sooner than two months after the application deadline date. 
• Funding cannot be used for competition entries, vet and/or farrier expenses, or the purchase of a horse or equipment.
• The recipients of these grants must use the funds within one year of the date of the award. 
• Recipients are chosen by an independent selection committee comprised of dressage industry leaders. The applications and discussions of the grant selection committee are confidential, and their decisions are final.
• The grant selection committee reserves the right not to award a grant in any given year if they determine that no candidate has met the criteria.
• If the grant recipient is unable to attend the event/training as specified in their application, The Dressage Foundation must be notified as soon as possible. Approval for a change in the use of funds is at the discretion of The Dressage Foundation and the grant selection committee.
• A rider may not receive the grant in consecutive years.

Reporting Information:

• 75% of grant funds will be paid prior to the recipient’s departure for training; 25% will be paid after the applicant has completed training and has submitted a training and financial report to The Dressage Foundation.
• The grant recipient is required to provide a training and financial report of their experience to The Dressage Foundation. The report may be submitted in writing, video, photo journal, or in another format pre-approved by The Dressage Foundation. The report is due within two months following the completion of the training.
• Throughout the training, the recipient is encouraged to share training/event updates with The Dressage Foundation via email or by tagging The Dressage Foundation on social media. 

The online application form and all required documents must be submitted to The Dressage Foundation on or before November 10th of each year.
