The Dressage Foundation’s Patsy Albers Award Expanded to Include Award at Dressage at Devon

The Dressage Foundation (TDF) is pleased to announce that its Patsy Albers Award will be expanded to not only provide a $2,500 award at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions but also, for the first time, at Dressage at Devon

Patsy Albers was a longtime supporter and Chef d'Equipe of the North American Youth Championship Region 1 team. She was also very involved at the prestigious Dressage at Devon, where she served for many years as the FEI Event Director. Her expertise extended into management, officiating, and volunteering, for which she was honored multiple times. This award was established at TDF by Patsy’s friends and colleagues when she passed away in 2012.

For its first 10 years, the Award was presented to the highest placing rider at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions (preference to Grand Prix) who previously competed for the U.S. at a North American Youth Championship. The award will have similar criteria for Dressage at Devon.

“It is because of many generous donors who knew and loved Patsy that we’re able to add an award to be presented at Dressage at Devon,” said Jenny Johnson, TDF’s Executive Director. “We are pleased that these $2,500 awards will provide financial support for the training and education of riders who have come up through the ranks from NAYC to competing successfully at the Festival of Champions and Dressage at Devon.”

The U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions will be held August 21-27 at HITS Chicago at Lamplight Equestrian Center in Wayne, Illinois. Dressage at Devon will take place September 26 – October 1 at the Devon Horse Show Grounds in Devon, Pennsylvania.
