The Dressage Foundation Announces Changes to the Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Fund for U.S.-Bred Horses

March 1, 2026 - The Dressage Foundation (TDF) is excited to announce updates to the grants and awards from the Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Fund for U.S.-Bred Horses. This Fund was established in 2008 by Dr. Barlow Ramsay to showcase talented American-bred horses ridden by United States citizens. With these changes, TDF strengthens its support of U.S.-bred horses in the international dressage arena.

$30,000 Dr. Anne Barlow Ramsay Grants for U.S.-Bred Horses:

Beginning in 2026, the amount of grant awards from this Fund has increased from $25,000 to $30,000. Up to two grants may be awarded each year. The criteria have also been expanded to include the following:

  • Applications are now accepted for horses in the Five-Year-Old, Six-Year-Old, Seven-Year-Old, and Developing Prix St. Georges Divisions. The Fund will also continue to accept applications from the Prix St. Georges through Grand Prix divisions.
  • Grant funds for training or competition can be used to train and compete in Europe or the Ocala, Florida, or Wellington, Florida, areas.
  • The deadline for applying for these grants remains unchanged. All applications are due August 15.

$15,000 Anne Barlow Ramsay Award for U.S.-Bred Horses:

The $15,000 Anne Barlow Ramsay Award for U.S.-Bred Horses will be awarded to the owner and breeder ($7,500 to each) of the highest-scoring horse, with a minimum score of 65 percent, at the Developing Prix St. Georges Championship at the U.S. Dressage Festival of Champions. This award aims to recognize and promote the excellence of the top horses bred in the United States and to celebrate the owners and breeders of U.S.-Bred horses.

Barbara Cadwell (FL), daughter of Dr. Barlow Ramsay and a member of TDF’s Board of Directors, said, “I am honored to continue my mother’s legacy and support of U.S.-Bred horses. I am pleased to expand the grants and awards from the Dr. Barlow Ramsay Fund with the goal of creating a greater impact for those involved in breeding dressage horses in America. I look forward to continuing to work with TDF in the future to continue their mission of advancing dressage in the United States.”
