Grants for Western Dressage Riders

  • One $1,000 grant will be awarded annually to a youth or young adult rider (25 or under as of December 1st of the current year) who is a current Michigan resident and best exemplifies the qualities that Carolyn found most important in life, including exhibiting the characteristics that demonstrate positive sportsmanship principles.

  • The goal of the Cynthia Aspden Youth and Young Adult Development Fund is to provide financial assistance to youth and young adult riders (age 25 and under) to aid in their development in dressage. Grants awarded will typically be $1,000, to be used for educational experiences that are not within the horse and rider’s typical training plan.

  • Seeded with donations received in special remembrance of Carol's great Dressage horse, Gifted. Many other friends of The Dressage Foundation have added donations and the Grant Fund has grown steadily over the years. This grant enables Adult Amateurs to set aside quality time, in concentrated training away from the daily pressures of job and family, with a horse the recipient owns or formally leases. Up to nine $1,500 grants are available each year (one in each USDF Region), plus two additional $1,500 wild card grants (which can be awarded in any Region).

  • The Lynn Palm Western Dressage Fund was established in 2019 by Lynn in celebration of her 50 years as a professional equestrian and to give back to the sport she loves. Lynn believes that the classical training principles of dressage are applicable and beneficial to all levels of riders, breeds of horses, and riding disciplines. The goal of this Fund is to provide funding for equestrian groups to host affordable, high-quality Western dressage educational events (clinics, camps, symposia, etc.) with a clinician of your choice. The amount of the grants can vary depending on the need and request of the applicants but the maximum amount to be awarded is $2,000 per event.

  • In addition to providing funding for equestrian groups to host affordable, high-quality Western dressage educational events, grants are also available to individual riders for Western dressage education. Grants in the amount of $1,000 each are available for riders who need financial help to continue their Western dressage education.

  • $500 awards will be presented annually to the highest-scoring Junior rider (age 17 and under) at the WDAA World Championship Show in Intro, Basic, Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 classes. The minimum score to qualify for the award is 65 percent. The Awards will be announced at the WDAA World Championship Show’s Awards Celebration.

  • This fund will provide an annual $1,000 grant to a current or graduate rider with a Pony Club Rating of A, B, or C rating to attend an educational event of his/her choice. Preference will be given to riders with an A or B rating.
